WHY is it SO FREAKING HARD to find a good dark purple wig????!!! But alas, I did bring the stress upon myself since I'm shopping kinda last minute. So far i've been to Ricky's, New York Costumes, Party City, Wigs and Plus, and Jack Rabbit's 99 cent store.. and the stores are often messy, crowded, have useless retail associates/managers, and long lines. and when i had to settle down for a light purple one, it was originally too long and when i cut it, i cut too much and now i feeling like giving up on this costume >_<...blah..this costume is so taking the fun out of halloween...
i'm not a big fan of oreos, but when i saw these halloween themed oreos in shoprite, i couldn't resist! They're orange-colored creme, have some spooky decorations on the outside, and taste pretty good...nah, they taste just like original, but orange lols
and i've also been in the mood for ice cream like this drumstick...mhmmm drumstick and sprinkled w/ peanuts too! xP
and today, i got this free ice cream from Baskin Robbins thru their group scoop thing on facebook! it was rum-raisin flavor b/c i've always wanted to try the rum flavor and from the past, i could never taste it. but this one i did and the alcohol side may have been a bit too strong...

halloween costume
Lately I've been thinking about what halloween costume to wear even tho I'm not sure where I'm going to or what I'm gonna be doing on Halloween. But I've been vacillating between two costumes:

I really want to be Luna Lovegood since I've always loved the HP series. But I know I won't be able to find or make a lion hat with the roaring sound and I can't do w/o it either, so I think I will settle for the purple girl. I can't wait to go costume shopping tomorrow! If anything, I'll just join the Halloween parade, but that is if I can even get in since it gets crowded like hell every year. Sooooo excited!!!!!!!!
Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter

Hit Girl from Kick-Ass

this fall is moving at snail speed..=_=
Oh wow, I didn't know I haven't posted anything for ~2 months. But that's b/c nothing exciting has been happening in my life since the summer ended. My life feels stagnate right now...kinda depressing. But to keep this blog up and alive, I'll make a boring post anyways....
mhmmm..looking back at my pictures folder, i realized that i've mostly been hanging out w/ my stony brook buddies hahas
For Jas's 22nd bday, I went to Pocha 32 in Ktown. It had a really authentic feel to it, like something you would actually find at the streets of Korea.
About a week later, Jas, Annie, and I went to watch the Devil movie. It was planned for Fri. evening, but the Social Network movie was also premiering that nite and the Devil was canceled, which was a total bummer. So we decided to go eat Chipotle, and it was my first time going there too. It was pretty filling, i could have even split it into 2 meals lols We decided to watch the movie on Sunday instead and ate lunch at Gahm Mi Oak restaurant in ktown.
tasty & ripe kimchi and radish cubes
Ox-tail soup, very good on a cold/sick day
One day when I was home alone, I made myself a really tasty burger sandwich...soo good that I'm drooling like Homer lolz
Last weekend was the Breast Cancer Awareness walk @ Central Park. My lil sis has been doing this like the past 6 yrs or so, so I decided to join her cuz it was a nice day and I haven't really done any real exercise in a long while. It prolly took about 2 hrs to walk the 5 miles around the park, but there was so much ppl, we were practically walking shoulder to shoulder. Ppl could have opted for the 4 mi course instead, but my lil sis and I decided to do the longer route cuz we might as well if we're doing it for our health =D

They were also handing out these chips and I am absolutely addicted to this chip brand. It's so crunchy and you can actually use it as a straw. I am totally buying more of this!
Last Friday, I came out for an interview and Kaplan GRE test at my college. Just thinking about it makes me pissed like hell. The interview was actually on Thursday, not Friday! When I heard it, my feet practically fell frozen to the floor 0_0 I really heard the career center lady say Friday, and the interviewer even wrote the date on a piece of paper for Fri. Damn my bad luck (>_<)
So then I went to take the free practice GRE test, and it was shorter than before =_=. It used to have 4 sections, but this time they only had 2 sections. This was just annoying cuz I wanted the practice..::sigh::
When evening finally came, I met up with Jas and Annie @ Bill's Bar & Burger in Rockefeller Cntr. I got there early but could not find the place even after asking the standby cops for directions. I felt so embarrassed and confused b/c I could not find the place even after Annie was giving me directions. But actually, the map on their website that I memorized was wrong whew I almost thought I couldn't navigate around manhattan. After the dinner, we walked around mid-town, which was really fun just checking out stores like H&M and the Apple store, except i was brrrrrr cold. I think i will check out shake-shack next time.
Side dishes: Sweet potato fries & beer battered onion rings, but the portions were so small
my Bill's burger w/ mint mudslide shake; my burger is practically engulfed by the salad
Annie's Mini-B w/ toasty marshmellow shake
That's it for now...I still have to figure out what to do on Halloween nite.

rejecting an accepted offer
So I had my first interview since my job search after returning from China last Monday and I had a good feeling I would get the job. It was an R&D scientist position in a sterilization testing company and although the position didn't really go with my career interests, I was applying to anything science-related that I could do b/c I am always hearing how bad the job market and was afraid I wouldn't get a job. But as I learned more about the position and the company during the interview, I felt a growing dislike of the place. They wanted someone permanent and not go to grad school either. I wouldn't have mind this b/c I know that you could leave whenever you wanted to, but I also wanted to use wherever I am working at to be a good reference for me when I do apply to grad school. So I was pretty sure this place would not want to be my future reference if they learned how uncommitted I was.
I would have learned a lot of stuff there tho and gain alot of skills in research planning, marketing, and leadership, but even if they would be a good reference for me, I still felt that this place was not going to let me develop my research skills in a physical chemical science field. So I get their call 2 days later and for some reason, I gladly accepted their offer. The call got intercepted mid-way, and I was already thinking of a polite way to turn it down but I couldn't think of it in those few seconds and I accepted it after our call got re-connected. They were expecting me tomorrow @ 9am.
After the call, I just entered a state of mild terror >.< I am not good with my talking skills...blah. On the train ride to my school's career center to give in my revised resume (ironic already?), I kept going thru my mind all the diff. ways for how I would retract back my original statements w/o making myself appear totally unreliable and unprofessional or even just a complete liar. That was 2 hrs of stressful thinking and when I was finally facing a computer, that was when I realized that I could EMAIL instead of talking directly on the phone. I searched online and found that ppl even put up sample letters on how to reject an accepted offer. It took me close to an hour just to send a 5-sentence email -__-.......I hope he receives it in time, but I cannot express how much of a burden was lifted off of my shoulders.
I realized that I am REALLY REALLY stupid in applying there in the first place. I felt like I was diving-into situations head first w/o thinking more carefully beforehand. From now on, I am going to focus on applying to places that are more in line with my interests even if that means taking a long, long time......

another poem
it's already been a week since I came back from China and I miss my family there already. Not sure if I need to make a blog entry on my adventures there since most of the pics are already on fb (which took me like 4 days to post up). While I was cleaning my desk (where did this mess come from after being away for a month?), i had written on a piece of paper another nice poem that i had discovered while riding the MTA and it went like this....
My heart burns in flames of sorrow
Sparks and smoke rise fuming to the sky
Within me, my heart has taken fire like a candle
My body, whirling, is like a lighthouse illuminated by your image...
But the memories captured in my camera has already been engraved to my soul chain.
My heart burns in flames of sorrow
Sparks and smoke rise fuming to the sky
Within me, my heart has taken fire like a candle
My body, whirling, is like a lighthouse illuminated by your image...
{my adds hehe}
Summer came and wentBut the memories captured in my camera has already been engraved to my soul chain.

Last Day
So today was my last day at my research lab. That thought was hanging over my head the entire day and made me think about all the good and bad times i went thru there and how much fun i had w/ the ppl i met on the same floor as me. So I stayed by my mentor's side and helped him w/ what I could until I had to leave...I've been in the lab for about a year and half now and I still mess up things, but thankfully, my mentor is patient hahas but i still feel super embarrassed every time. So as I said good bye to ppl and my mentor, everything got awkward and the atmosphere became uncomfortable....damn, i hate good byes =\
Going to China next week...I'm really excited about going to Hong Kong, but not China cuz of the mosquito bites...for some reason, yesterday, i just felt my skin crawl at the thought of getting mosquito bites there cuz i get them bad....really bad, it's like the ones in Guangzhou are 50 times more poisonous there than the ones here....I think i'll be getting more and more scared and paranoid about this as next Wed. approaches >.<
i gotta stop eating chocolate, i'm like eating 1 or 2 Dove's dark chocolate pieces everyday, but i love reading their msgs...

waited 4 years and then another 4 hrs at the DMV to get this paper permit
After I turned 18, I told myself to get my permit while I was still a college student. But i've now graduated and finally started studying for the written test the day before. Waiting at the DMV in Herald Sq was gruesome just to take a test that takes 5 mins to answer&check. I was standing on-line at 11 am, and got out at 2:45 pm. I was hungry, thirsty, needed to potty, and bored out of my freaking mind. And this crap test cost $77.50??? O_O
When I got back to school, ppl were asking if I went to the 34th st one and apparently that is supposed to one of the worst to go to cuz too many ppl go there. well, go figure, why didn't they tell me this earlier? ~_~
So I've got the first step taken care of.. and now on to dmv lessons after i come back from china =D
