♥ ♥ ♥ EMMA WATSON ♥ ♥ ♥

I am LOVING Emma Watson's new pixie/twiggy/elfen hair cut! I've always admired her transformation from the young frizzy Hermione to the mature and urban chic Emma that she is now. I've always wanted a pixie haircut and seeing how good she looks in it makes me want it even MORE. But am I confident enough to pull it off?

1st day at Cold Spring Harbor Lab

CSHL wanted me to come in at 8:30 am to go thru the paperwork. But this meant that I had to wake up at 4 am and get out the door by 5 to make the 5:51am train to Syosset 0_0 I didn't have very good sleep last nite, prolly like 3 hrs max. But i got thru the morning w/o coffee but just some of my chinese breakfast =D

I get to Syosset and I wait half an hour for their first shuttle bus to arrive, and thank god they have this free shuttle cuz i would be paying a $9 taxi fare each day. I arrive at the HR building and 3 other ppl are there waiting already and I immediately knew they were gonna be my colleagues. And they were all white and from long island one guy, one blonde, and one brunette...=___= i don't know why but as soon as i realized that I was going to work with this group, i ..just thought to myself, "what did i get myself into?" there must be some real disconnection betw me and white ppl cuz i nvr hit it off with that race compared to other ethnicities. They just talked about stuff that I was not interested in and i get this feeling like they look at me and think i'm a shy, quiet, boring girl. and they're all taller than me and own a car too >_> but there is one other girl coming in and she is from the city but from the sound of her name, i think she's just gonna act like the rest of the group. i already sense that the brunette likes the only guy in the group cuz there seems to be some chemistry going on and the blonde girl is just laughing to w/e they say ~_~

and to create further chasm, I am placed in charge of the lab that is the furthest away and most difficult to get to cuz there's a mountain of stairs to climb up to get to it.

but the campus is very nice to be at and look at. my supervisors are great and understanding ppl. they're changing the start time to 9:30am tmr so i can sleep in for another hour (HALLELUJAH)
so i'm prolly just having trouble dealing w/ my disconnect from the rest of the group and i'll just end up doing all the work w/ no help from them.

i got out of work at 3:30 pm, which was nice and when I got back to Atlantic Terminal, i could not resist stopping by starbucks to get myself a green tea frappe <<===i think i'm addicted to this drink (i think about it constantly)

last day working at NYU

So today was my last day working as a project coordinator at NYU School of Dentistry. I def felt that I'm-gonna-miss-you thing, but only for a few minutes. But there was a guy that I've been noticing pass by the area where I specifically work lately and I was actually on the look out for him today cuz I wanted to see him one last time lols i know... He's asian (korean too maybe), tall, and most importantly cute and nice. And I was lucky enuff to see him one last time today, but only as he was coming out of the door. We made eye contact but only for a split second and i practically swooned. I don't know but my hormones have got me more excited than usual these days. I hope I was smiling and made some impression on him cuz last week, some random guy who passed by me said to me "You have a very pretty smile." Maybe it was b/c he was cute too but my soul practically almost left me before i remembered to thank his compliment.

This is the closest image I found on google that has some resemblance to the mystery guy but he was more fleshier on the face and had smaller eyes that makes him look cute rather than the handsome features seen below on Choi Si Won. I didn't even know it was Choi Si Won's pic until I hovered over it. I guess that's the kind of azn face i like.

belated Mother's Day post

Mother's day was last Sunday, but I've been tired yet still wanted to make this post. I've never did anything really special for Mother's day and felt that I should do something fun this year. Since my mom had work during the day, my lil sis and I went to visit my grandmother (who are also mothers!) in the nursing home. She didn't know it was mother's day or had forgotten since her memory isn't as good as it was before. We talked and laughed and took some pics so that we can later give them to her and not forget us. We also test her memory and she had forgotten who I was but at least she remembered my lil sis cuz of her darker skin. But she doesn't mind us when we correct her memory, which is real blessing since other elderly get real cranky when they feel that other ppl are correcting their memory. Then we said our good byes until nxt time.

While walking back to the train station, we passed by some vendor selling flowers. They had a sign up that wrote "Roses for $9" which isn't bad for a batch of them since they can sell that at that price for just 1 rose on valentine's day. We nvr gotten flowers for my mom cuz she thinks it's a waste of money, but we know she likes flowers. We didn't get roses cuz that is something my father should be getting, so we got some other spring-like flowers. I also stopped by THE FACE SHOP cuz I wanted to see their bb cream line and tried one out on my face. I can't find the name of it online for some reason but the result wasn't that bad except my lil sis could tell my face was whitened by the diff in skin color betw my face and neck. It was a hot day, but this thing kept my face looking matte.

Then we headed out to Union Sq b/c there was this event going on called the 32nd Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Festival 2011. We got their mid-way to the event so there wasn't much left regarding free goodies and foodies.

Make a Wish

2 koreans dressed in their traditional wardrobe.
They were so pretty.

We bought these sweet potato sweets from a stand and they were pretty good even tho there were only 3 pieces but at least we were helping out the Japanese relief fund.

fresh cooked food for you to order

Shake Salad Raman from Hakata TonTon
they add sauce to this, shake it up, and eat.

cosplay girl
even tho it's just art, isn't she seductive?

We also watched this taiko performance, which was really good. I recorded a vid of it too but too lazy to upload >.<

the taiko sensei
We bumped into our cousin who took this pic for us.

as we were making our way to chinatown, there was this fair going on right next to the festival.

i finally found my cookie monster shirt in the right blue shade at this fair!

We stayed for a lil over an hour before going to Chinatown to pick up our omma. We decided to introduce her to korean food and the only k-resto in chinatown was Jup-She. When we got to the resto, it was closed?!!! I had made sure its store hrs on the yelp site and no reviewers has said that place was closed either. But I did see a food inspector sign saying "Grade Pending", but that doesn't mean it should be closed either. So we had trek our way to k-town on 34th st and went to Seoul Garden cuz I had a good first experience there before.

So we wanted to give a good korean food experience for our mom cuz we're always raving it when we get back home from our hang-outs. But my mom didn't like any of the 5 Banchans especially the Kim-Chi lols This was already turning out to be a lost cause in me trying to broaden her taste buds beyond Chinese food. For our appetizers, we got the Haemool Pajun (Seafood and scallion pancake) and Yachae Japchae (Stir-fried mixed vegetable and vermicelli noodle in special season). Our main course was the Soon Tofu + Beef Short Rib since I love love love their smoky beef short rib the most.
5 banchans

i don't usually eat bean sprouts cuz they're bland, but Seoul Garden made them SOOOO tasty!

Left: Haemool Pajun - Seafood and scallion pancake
Right: Yachae Japchae - Stir-fried mixed vegetable and vermicelli noodle in special season

This was my first Haemool Pajun and it was sooo delish!
My mom said this was her fav dish of the nite
and wanted to make it back home.
^_^

We forgot to crack the egg into the tofu bowl until 10 mins later *fails*

trying to rock out the cookie monster shirt
yay!
you can tell how much my face got whitened by the bb cream.
first time looking so flawless like those korean stars

and this was taken 5 hrs later!!!

my complimentary dessert xP

We were soooo stuffed. All in all my mom still preferred chinese food over korean food any day, but she really enjoyed the experience esp us giving her flowers for the first time. I didn't know why I didn't do this before, but it was a lot of fun treating my mom cuz it is HER day.

Since were in 34th st, I had to make a stop by H&M and check out their spring collection and actually got some stuff I liked and they gave me this really pretty coral color bag which is the hit color of Spring 2011.
aww the color didn't come out right but it was a really light color

Jenny's 23rd bday

My friend, Jenny, had her 23rd bday on May 2nd, but it was a Monday, so we went to 6 flags on Sunday. She had been meaning to go there for 2 yrs or so already and so planned early with us to get us to go there for her bday. But we (me, Jennifer, and Regina) decided to make it a "cruel" surprise for her. A couple of days before the set day, Jennifer and Regina told Jenny that it wouldn't be possible for them to make it that day. Of course we couldn't all say that excuse cuz then the bday girl would get suspicious. We made sure that she wouldn't make any other plans that day by getting her mom to force her to go eat dim sum with her. After the other 2 canceled on Jenny, she called me to tell me that the 6 flags trip would be rescheduled, and I said ok.

When May 1st came along, the 3 of us went to her apartment. We were supposed to meet at 8 am, but the trains on weekends are >.< and so we ran a half hour late. It was a lot of fun surprising the bday girl, we had our green tea cake with those tall candles and party poppers. We were making so much noise on a sunday morning LOLS I didn't get a chance to take a pic of the surprise part cuz nobody had any free hands to do so. But after the surprise part, we rushed Jenny to change out of her PJs and get ready to head out to 6 flags.

We were really running behind schedule. We had to get from the Upper East Side to Chinatown in less than half an hour. We took the bus crosstown to a B,D train station, but it was getting so late that we decided to take a taxi. But the taxi got so stuck in traffic near the central park midtown area that we only traveled like 10 blocks before getting off and running to the columbus circle station. But we eventually made it Y(^_^)Y
rushing out of the apt to get to the MTA

taking the bus crosstown

We had the entire private bus to ourselves, which was a big PLUS! And we basically just started camwhoring hahahas. We got to 6 flags and had a blast. While me and Jenny were in it for the coaster rides, the other two, Jennifer and Regina, stayed mostly at the arcades and kiddy rides lols It was perfect cuz there were hardly any lines. We also experienced our first coaster breakdown on the Batman ride, but thank god we weren't in a bad position when it got stuck. I finally mastered my fear of the Kingda Ka too. I thought going down the ~180 part would be the scariest part, but it was shooting up to the top that was the scariest for me. But I prefer the NITRO will be forever my fav ride (it's actually the only reason i came back) cuz I can actually enjoy the coaster ride while many ppl had to get on the Kingda Ka several times to enjoy it, which one group was actually doing when I was waiting on line for the first time.

getting stuck on the BATMAN ride, so i whipped out my cam to capture the moment
^_^

Jennifer won a panther! So black and silky!

It was time to get going home. But just before the bus stopped in Chinatown, I took out my wallet to pay back Jennifer for the ticket. When the bus came to a full stop, I don't know what happened to my wallet as I got off. I just remember throwing some garbage away cuz I spilled my drink when I was getting ready to get off. We were getting ready to head back to Jenny's apt to eat the bday cake when I realized that I had lost my wallet. Regina offered to go back to the bus stop to search with me. Thank god I took note of the stores and street that I passed by in order to retrace my steps. But it was all futile, even looking through the garbage didn't bring any luck ::sigh:: I called the bus company and they said no wallet ever turned up. I went to the nearby police precint for the lost & found, but to no avail. There wasn't much cash in it (~$30), but I just didn't want to go thru the hassle of replacing all my cards, but I eventually sucked it up and went thru the replacement process.

The day started off with so much fun and I had to ruin it by losing my wallet. and when I got home, I saw my fb feeds filled with the news of Osama bin Laden's death. My senses were too numb to feel any joy about it. This was such a roller-coaster riding day.

my Happy Mother's Day post will be coming up soon~~
